Brickwerk started as a few solo side project experiments by Mike Ward that didn't quite fit in with the Longstone sound. Rather than abandon these pieces, whether they were found sound/location recording collages or experimental song forms using vocals from Anna Dennis (now Anna Treby), Mike decided to curate and release them under the Brickwerk banner. Kev Fox and Mike also started experimenting with Brickwerk live shows, using car boot finds like circuit bent speak & spell machines or Furby toys along with reel to reel tape recorders combined with analogue effects such as The Watkins Copycat echo. Over time, more recording experiments were sporadically and randomly completed, with all three participants. Tracks were released on compilations along with a 7" EP. Eventually after several years and with Country music starting to be an influence the album was assembled.
The final album is a filmic mix of instrumental vignettes, location recordings and song-form experiments that even includes some country leaning songs .....

All songs written, performed, recorded and produced by Brickwerk
between 1998 - 2006 at Brickwerk Studios and on location using various recording mediums
including digital 8 track, cassette 4 track, portable mini disc etc.
